What does Las Vegas know that history doesn’t?

Florida State is a 21-point favorite over Miami?

The same Miami that leads the all-time series, 31-26, and has crushed Florida State national title dreams time and time again?

RJ Bell of pregame.com in Las Vegas reports this week the point spread is the highest in history between top 10 teams this late in the season.

Florida State (7-0) is No. 3 in the latest BCS standings and Miami (7-0) is No. 7.

The game is in Tallahassee, where Miami owns a 14-8 record in the series.

This is the ninth time the schools have met while both undefeated and untied. Miami is 5-3 in the eight previous games.

Miami probably cost Florida State Coach Bobby Bowden a couple of national titles (he won in 1993 and 1999).

In 2001, Miami snapped Florida State’s 54-game home-game winning streak in Tallahassee.

Las Vegas oddsmakers are obviously fixated on the schools’ performances this year. Florida State has been dominating, defeating ranked opponents Maryland and Clemson by the combined score of 114-14.

Miami, conversely, needed last-minute drives the last two weeks to defeat unranked North Carolina and Wake Forest.
