Donald Trump discusses the possibility of buying the Buffalo Bills

Donald Trump could become an owner of the Buffalo Bills.

A lot of things would have to happen first. First, the New York City businessman would have to join the group that he says has contacted him about possibly purchasing the NFL franchise.

And then, of course, that group would actually have to buy the team.

But that appears to be a long way away, if it happens at all.

“People have actually talked to me about the Bills,” Trump told WBEN radio in Buffalo, N.Y. “I mean, the group of people called me -- would I be interested in investing, and I’ll take a look at it. I mean, I look at a lot of things. I’ll take a look at it.”

Keep in mind that, as Trump said himself, he explores lots of opportunities. Like running for president in 2012. Or running for governor of New York this year. He ended up not doing either of those things.

But, then again, you don’t become a billionaire -- not to mention a reality TV star -- by just “looking at” things. So maybe this is one thing Trump might actually pursue.

If he does, Trump says there’s one thing Bills fans won’t have to worry about -- the relocation of their beloved team, something many people have been speculating about since the death of owner Ralph Wilson last week.

“I know so many people in Buffalo, and they have asked me about looking at that and I certainly would look at it, but I would ... if it were me, I’d keep the team in Buffalo,” he said. “I think it’s something that is really vital to the area. ... It would be catastrophic, in my opinion, if Buffalo lost the Buffalo Bills.”
