Rams tight end Temarrick Hemingway starting to show pass-catching ability

The Rams selected two tight ends in the 2016 draft class to help bolster their league-worst passing attack.

Tyler Higbee of Western Kentucky was selected in the fourth round and has been the talk of training camp.

Temarrick Hemingway was a sixth-round pick from South Carolina State. As of late, he has come on, making several outstanding catches in the last few practices.

“Temarrick is coming along fast,” Coach Jeff Fisher said Thursday, adding, “He’s had a real good couple days.”

Hemingway, 6-foot-5 and 244 pounds, caught 93 passes in college, seven for touchdowns.

Hemingway said he was looking forward to Saturday night’s exhibition game against the Kansas City Chiefs at the Coliseum.

His recent surge, he said, was the result of not overthinking.

“I just had to get familiar with my playbook, understanding the route concepts, the general understanding of the offense and where I fit in,” he said. “I’m getting comfortable and starting to do things at full speed.

“That’s all it is, really.”
