Ex-NFL star Johnny Manziel reaches agreement to dismiss domestic violence charge
Prosecutors say they have reached an agreement with troubled former NFL star Johnny Manziel to dismiss his domestic violence charge.
According to the Dallas Country district attorney’s office, the former Cleveland Browns quarterback reached a conditional dismissal agreement from his case in which he allegedly hit and threatened former girlfriend Colleen Crowley during a night out in January.
The agreement calls for Manziel “to make arrangements with providers of treatment and/or counseling that meet the Court’s approval.”
Even though Manziel has not been formally placed in any type of probation, if he abides by the agreement for up to a year, the misdemeanor charge will be dismissed.
The former Heisman Trophy winner and Texas A&M quarterback faced a misdemeanor assault charge that included a penalty of up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
