Xavier Henry to slow down comeback after experiencing knee soreness
The Lakers will have to wait a while longer for guard Xavier Henry to return from a sprained knee and abnormality of his lateral meniscus.
According to a team spokesman, Henry experienced knee soreness on Monday after running through an on-court workout on Sunday.
Henry will spend the next several days doing non-weight-bearing exercises.
Dr. Steve Lombardo of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic is to examine Henry, as previously scheduled, on Tuesday before the Lakers host the Cleveland Cavaliers.
With the potential setback, Henry’s return date remains unknown. He was originally diagnosed with the injury on Dec. 30 with a reevaluation planned in seven to 10 days.
Fourteen days later and Henry is still trying to get healthy.
The injury-depleted Lakers, who also are without guards Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Steve Blake and Jordan Farmar, have lost 10 of their last 11 games.
Through 31 appearances with the Lakers this season, Henry averaged 10.1 points a game while shooting 42.5% from the field.
