Chest injury leaves Tim Duncan doubtful against Lakers on Friday
San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan is doubtful for Friday’s game as his team visits the Lakers at Staples Center.
Duncan was hit in the chest by Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Allen on Wednesday in a 101-94 Spurs victory. The Spurs All-Star played just 17 minutes, scoring three points before sitting.
A CT scan Thursday confirmed a chest contusion, according to the Spurs.
Duncan’s status is listed as day to day, but doubtful against the Lakers -- although he will travel to Los Angeles with the team.
Boris Diaw could be a possible replacement for Duncan in the Spurs’ starting lineup, should Duncan be unable to play.
The Lakers started the season 1-1 after an opening-night win over the Clippers -- and a Golden State Warriors blowout in Oakland.
Of course, the Lakers will be without their star Friday as Kobe Bryant tries to work his way back from an Achilles’ tendon injury.
