Pau Gasol to miss game with 76ers due to upper respiratory infection
The Lakers’ Pau Gasol will not play Sunday against Philadelphia, the third game he will sit out because of an upper respiratory infection.
It’s been a bizarre pattern for Gasol, who missed a game against Golden State a little over a week ago because of the illness, then played two games and now will have missed the Lakers’ last two games.
Lakers Coach Mike D’Antoni said he expected Gasol to play Tuesday against Milwaukee.
Chris Kaman took part in the team’s shoot-around Sunday and was expected to play against Philadelphia despite sustaining a moderate sprain in his left ankle Friday when he stepped on a Utah player’s foot.
Kaman had 19 points and 10 rebounds in the Lakers’ 105-103 loss to the Jazz. He probably wouldn’t start against Philadelphia, D’Antoni said, with Jordan Hill probably starting at center.
The Lakers (13-17) are on a four-game losing streak. They are four games under .500 for the first time this season.
