Ailing Pau Gasol to miss Lakers’ Utah trip
Pau Gasol will not travel with the Lakers to Utah on Thursday for their game against the Jazz on Friday.
The Lakers forward/center will miss his second game of the season, battling through a lingering upper respiratory infection.
Gasol sat out his first game of the season on Saturday with the same ailment as the Lakers were blasted by the Golden State Warriors, 102-83.
Gasol has since played two games, both losses (Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat). He missed practice on Thursday to visit with an ear, nose and throat specialist.
“I think it’s lingering a little bit,” Coach Mike D’Antoni said after practice but prior to the announcement that Gasol would miss Friday. “He’s here. Here’s ready to go, I think.”
Apparently not.
In 28 appearances, Gasol is averaging 14.7 points on 44.6% shooting along with 9.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists.
The Lakers are listing Gasol as day-to-day.
