Lakers’ Pau Gasol out vs. Warriors because of respiratory infection
OAKLAND -- Already short-handed, the Lakers will play Golden State tonight without Pau Gasol.
Gasol had one of his best games of the season Friday against Minnesota, but has been sidelined a day later because of an upper respiratory infection.
Chris Kaman will start in Gasol’s place.
“We’ll give him an opportunity,” Lakers Coach Mike D’Antoni said. “He played well [Friday] night so I’m sure he’s looking forward to it.”
Kaman had six points and three rebounds in 16 minutes of the Lakers’ 104-91 victory over Minnesota.
He complained last week about a lack of playing time. Now he’s part of the 12th different lineup in what will be the Lakers’ 27th game.
Gasol had 21 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists against Minnesota and appeared to be enjoying himself immensely on the court. The Lakers flew up to San Francisco immediately after the game and Gasol was sick by the time of their team meeting this morning.
