Pau Gasol says he’s probable Friday, despite groin injury
After missing practice Thursday, Pau Gasol admitted he’s probable for Friday when the Lakers host the Charlotte Bobcats (20-27).
“My groin is sore,” said Gasol. “I’ve just got to keep working on it and we’ll see tomorrow.”
Gasol noted that he first felt pain in his groin while on the team’s seven-game road trip. He didn’t feel especially limited until Tuesday night, against the Indiana Pacers.
The Lakers’ 7-footer sat out the first couple of minutes of the third quarter but was able to finish the game with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Indiana pulled away in the second half for the 104-92 win.
“Today it feels better [than Tuesday],” he said.
Gasol received treatment while his teammates practiced.
“We’ll see if I can give it a go,” he Gasol. “It’s probable.”
Gasol has averaged 16.9 points and 10.2 rebounds in 43 games. He missed two games last month with bronchitis and a sinus infection.
