Lakers recall high-scoring Ryan Kelly from Development League
Not only will the Lakers get Kobe Bryant back Sunday night when they host the Toronto Raptors, but the team also recalled rookie forward Ryan Kelly from the D-Fenders.
Kelly is one of the Development League’s top scorers, averaging 25.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.6 steals in five games.
The D-Fenders are 1-4 after losing back-to-back games to the Bakersfield Jam on Friday and Saturday.
Kelly scored 21 points Friday and 30 on Saturday.
The Duke product has logged only seven minutes with the Lakers this season, scoring six points.
The D-Fenders are off until the weekend, when they play host to the Santa Cruz Warriors on Saturday and Sunday.
Kelly probably will stay with the Lakers for Tuesday’s game at Staples Center against the Phoenix Suns before returning to the D-League once the Lakers begin a four-game trip.
The D-Fenders made a trade on Saturday, acquiring 6-5 guard Manny Harris from Canton and sending a 2014 second-round draft pick to the Charge.
