Lakers make signing of Florida guard Michael Frazier official
On Tuesday, the Lakers announced the signing of undrafted Florida guard Michael Frazier.
Last week, The Times reported that Frazier would join the Lakers on a two-year, $1.4-million contract.
Frazier will still have to fight his way through training camp, as only $50,000 of his rookie salary ($525,093) is guaranteed.
The 6-foot-5 Frazier averaged 12.1 points and 1.4 assists a game with the Gators, shooting 48.2% from the field and 38% from three-point range.
The Lakers are expected to bring 17 to 20 players to training camp, but the regular-season roster limit is 15.
Frazier is the team’s 16th player. The team also recently signed Texas forward Jonathan Holmes to a similar contract, but with a $100,000 guarantee.
Second-year players Jabari Brown and Tarik Black have non-guaranteed contracts for the upcoming season at $845,059 apiece.
The Lakers have also had casual conversations with veteran forward Metta World Peace about re-joining the team.
If Frazier is unable to make the cut with the Lakers, he could become an affiliate player in the NBA Development League with the D-Fenders.
