Brandon Bass to have follow-up exam after knee X-ray is inconclusive

After an inconclusive X-ray, Lakers forward Brandon Bass’ left knee will undergo further tests on Friday, according to the team.
Bass took a hard fall, banging his knee into the court in the Lakers’ overtime exhibition loss to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night in Hawaii.
The team is traveling back to Los Angeles after training camp and two preseason games (both losses to the Jazz). Bass will likely have an MRI and CT scan, performed by team doctors.
The Lakers also noted that rookie D’Angelo Russell, who took a hard fall in the first quarter on Wednesday, bruising his rear, has shown signs of improvement, but didn’t practice on Thursday. His status for the Lakers’ exhibition against the Toronto Raptors in Ontario on Friday will be determined before the game.
Last season, the Lakers led the league in games missed to injury, en route to a 21-win season.
Thus far, the team has seen only a few minor bumps and bruises through training camp, but Bass’ injury could be a concern.
The Lakers signed the veteran to a two-year, $6.1-million contract in July, with a player option on his second season.
