NBA warns Lakers’ Jodie Meeks about flopping in loss to Milwaukee

Jodie Meeks has received a warning from the NBA about flopping.

With just under five minutes left in the Lakers’ 94-79 loss Tuesday to the Milwaukee Bucks, Meeks was “felled” by a right elbow from rookie Giannis Antetokounmpo.

As can be seen clearly in the replay, Antetokounmpo missed by at least a few inches.

The NBA does not fine for a player’s first offense, and it was Meeks’ first violation.

If Meeks is caught flopping again, he’ll be fined $5,000. The penalty climbs by $5,000 for each successive flop until the fifth, which jumps up to $30,000. Six or more results in an unspecified penalty, including possible suspension.

The flopping rule was instituted before the 2012-13 NBA season.

Meeks is also a rare Laker to have played in all 32 games thus far this season. Only Nick Young and Jordan Hill can make the same claim in what has been an injury-ravaged first few months for the team.
