Lakers guard Steve Nash won’t play tonight against Golden State
Steve Nash will miss a sixth consecutive game because of hip and hamstring soreness, Lakers Coach Mike D’Antoni said Friday morning after the team’s shoot-around.
“He’s getting closer, obviously,” D’Antoni said. “There’s not many games left. Hopefully for Sunday, but we don’t know yet.”
The Lakers have two games remaining after Friday’s meeting with Golden State at Staples Center. They play San Antonio on Sunday and Houston on Wednesday, also at home.
The Lakers (42-37) hold a one-game lead over Utah (41-38) in the race for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Jazz will play Minnesota twice and Memphis once before the end of the regular season.
D’Antoni said Kobe Bryant was holding up well after playing all 48 minutes and scoring 47 points Wednesday during the Lakers’ 113-106 victory over Portland.
“He said he’s fine,” D’Antoni said. “He feels good and ready to go.”
