Odds say Lakers still a top-three favorite to win NBA title
The Lakers are still more likely to win a championship this season than the San Antonio Spurs, according to Bovada, an online gambling company.
The Lakers, heading into their Tuesday night battle in Cleveland against the Cavaliers, have struggled with injuries to start the season 9-12. The Spurs are a league-best 18-4.
Although the Lakers have fallen from their initial 5-2 odds to win the title, they’re still listed third with 11-2 odds; the Spurs are next at 9-1.
The Miami Heat is still the favorite with 19-10 odds to repeat. The Oklahoma City Thunder is second at 4-1.
“NBA future odds are one of those things that do not tend to move to much when it comes to the favorites, with the Heat remaining at the top from Day One, and I expect that to stay the same until the playoffs unless an injury to LeBron [James] happens,” said Kevin Bradley, bovada.lv’s sports book manager. “The Lakers, who were 5-2 going into the season, are slowly drifting now at 11-2 and are garnering no interest from the bettors.”
