Les Miles has a pretty sweet gig at LSU. He’s making somewhere in the neighborhood of $4 million a season as the Tigers’ head coach. And in his eight seasons with the team, he’s led it to an 85-20 record, one national title, two BCS championship games and two SEC titles.

Why would he want to leave?

He probably doesn’t, although Arkansas has reportedly given him 27.5 million reasons to at least consider it. That’s the number in dollars that multiple sources have reported the Razorbacks have offered Miles in a five-year deal to become their next head coach.

The reported offer was first tweeted by the Sports by Brooks website. The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Tuesday that Miles’ agent, George Bass, and LSU athletic director Joe Alleva were discussing “a serious offer” by the Razorbacks.

But Tom Murphy of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette tweeted Tuesday: “Just hung up with George Bass, Miles’ agent, on Ark rumor: ‘There’s nothing like that going on.’ ”

Two hours later Murphy had another post on Twitter: “A person familiar with the Ark FB coach search just told me that no offer existed for LSU’s Les Miles.”

Miles has a press conference scheduled for 11 a.m. PST and is expected to discuss Arkansas ... that is, the Tigers’ 20-13 victory over the Razorbacks on Friday, as well as his 10-2 team’s bowl possibilities.
