Football: Rancho Verde is set to begin new era under Coach Jeff Steinberg
There’s a new era set to begin at Rancho Verde, where former Corona Santiago Coach Jeff Steinberg has brought along his passing attack previously run by prep All-American quarterback Blake Barnett (now at Alabama).
“We’ll do our thing _ hurry up, no huddle, four wideouts,” Steinberg said.
E.J. Stewart, a transfer from Hesperia, will be handling quarterback duties for Rancho Verde, which opens on Friday at Citrus Hill.
Asked how he likes his new job, Steinberg said, “I’m loving it.”
Steinberg first gained attention as the head coach for eight years at Ridgecrest Burroughs. He still goes back to Ridgecrest to visit friends.
He went to Santiago, then took over this season at Rancho Verde when Pete Duffy resigned after 10 years.
