Football: Crenshaw QB Daiyan Henley is ready for big junior year

Junior-to-be quarterback is Cougar leader

As a sophomore, Daiyan Henley more than held his own as the starting quarterback for Crenshaw in the fall.
But as a junior-to-be, he already looks bigger, stronger and more experienced. It means he’s going to have a fun season come August.
Loyola High held a seven on seven passing competition on Wednesday night, and Henley seemed at ease. He has grown to 6 feet, weighs 170 pounds and has a strong arm. He and sophomore receiver Rayshawn Williams will form quite a duo over the next two seasons.
Loyola was missing lots of players still involved in track season, but the Cubs have lots of confidence in new quarterback Sean O’Malley, who took over late last season.
Cathedral has a new defensive coordinator in former Bell-Jeff Coach Lance Fauria.
University was also at the seven on seven.
Gardena Serra held its own seven on seven competition.
Next week, Loyola, Serra and Alemany will be holding competitions beginning at 5 p.m.
