Harvard-Westlake pitcher Jack Flaherty has reached agreement with the St. Louis Cardinals for a $2 million signing bonus after being the 34th player selected overall in last week’s first-year player draft.

He still needs to take a physical and plans are for him to sign the contract on Tuesday in St. Louis.

Flaherty is 23-0 over the last two seasons. His ERA in 2014 when he went 10-0 was 0.63. His ERA in 2013 when he went 13-0 was 0.63.

He’s the third first-round draft pick out of Harvard-Westlake. In 2012, pitchers Max Fried (Padres) and Lucas Giolito (Nationals) also signed.

If all reach the major leagues, they could be pitching against each other one day. They were teammates on the 2012 Harvard-Westlake team.
