SAN FRANCISCO -- Dodgers infielder Hanley Ramirez left the championship game of the World Baseball Classic on Tuesday with what was called a jammed right thumb.

Ramirez suffered the injury while diving for a ground ball.

Ramirez, whom the Dodgers expect to be their regular shortstop, was playing third base at the time.

Jose Reyes was the starting shortstop for the Dominican Republic. Ramirez has not played shortstop in a game since his last Cactus League appearance for the Dodgers on March 2.
