Police were alerted by witness before Julio Urías’ arrest, possess video of incident
A concerned citizen who saw a man attacking a woman after a soccer match Sunday at Exposition Park flagged down police, unaware that the man was Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías, according to a report released on Thursday.
Shortly thereafter, police arrested Urías outside of BMO Stadium on suspicion of domestic violence.
A person flagged down officers after the soccer game between LAFC and Inter Miami. The citizen saw a man attack a woman, according to the report. The man and woman were then approached by officers from the state police agency that patrols Exposition Park. The officers “determined a physical altercation involving” the man and woman occurred, the report said.
Urías, 27, was arrested around 11 p.m. without issue, according to an Exposition Park management spokesperson.
Julio Urías is not with the Dodgers in Miami after being arrested Sunday on suspicion of felony domestic violence. MLB could decide the next step, with a suspension possible.
California Department of Public Safety officers are investigating the incident.
The police have a cellphone video captured by a civilian of the alleged incident, a person with knowledge of the situation not authorized to speak publicly confirmed to The Times, as ESPN first reported.
Urías was booked into custody with the Los Angeles Police Department and released after he posted a $50,000 bond, according to jail records.
Exposition Park management’s statement released Wednesday did not describe events that prompted Urías’ arrest, and officials declined to respond to any follow-up questions about the incident. The incident report did not disclose any additional details outlining how officers determined Urías was involved in an altercation.
Exposition Park police are seeking more information about the incident and asked witnesses to contact the agency at (213) 744-7412.
The Dodgers announced Monday that Urías, a left-handed pitcher from Mexico in his eighth season with the team, did not travel to Miami for the team’s series against the Marlins.
Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy mandates that the league office, and not individual teams, handle leave and suspension decisions. MLB is investigating the matter.

Urías was put on administrative leave Wednesday. Urías will stay on leave “until further notice,” according to a statement from MLB. He will still be paid while on leave. When sexual assault allegations against former Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer were reported two years ago, Bauer was put on leave before he could make his next start.
Urías has a Sept. 27 court date, jail records show. He can face league discipline regardless of whether he faces formal charges under the MLB domestic violence policy.
He was previously arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery in 2019, after police said witnesses saw him push a woman to the ground in a parking lot near Beverly Center. Though Urías was not charged in that incident, MLB suspended him for 20 games that season.

No player has previously been suspended twice under MLB’s domestic violence policy, which was created in 2015.
Urías is in his last season under contract with the Dodgers and is set to become a free agent this winter.
