Dodgers recall Nathan Eovaldi
Desperate for bullpen reinforcements, the Dodgers called up hard-throwing 22-year-old right-hander Nathan Eovaldi from double-A Chattanooga on Friday.
Left-hander Michael Antonini, who was called up to the majors for the first time on Tuesday, was sent back to triple-A Albuquerque without having thrown a pitch.
In four double-A starts, Eovaldi posted a 2.08 earned-run average and struck out 14 batters in 13 innings.
Eovaldi was on a starter’s throwing program during spring training. Last season, he was 1-2 with a 3.63 ERA in 10 major league appearances, including six starts.
