Dodgers’ Yasmani Grandal, Justin Turner to undergo surgeries
Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal and third baseman Justin Turner will undergo surgical procedures this week, the team announced.
Grandal will have arthroscopic surgery on the AC joint of his left shoulder Wednesday.
Turner will have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to clean up loose bodies Thursday.
The operations will be performed in Los Angeles by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. Both players are expected to be ready for spring training.
Acquired in the trade that sent Matt Kemp to the San Diego Padres, Grandal made his first All-Star team this year. He had 14 home runs at the All-Star break, but only two after. The dropoff in production was attributed to problems he had with his shoulder.
Turner became the team’s primary third baseman this season, but was prevented from playing on an everyday basis because of problems with his knee.
