Dodgers reportedly pick up Howie Kendrick in trade with Angels

Say this for Andrew Friedman, the man apparently never gets tired.

That’s right, he was at it again Wednesday, making what I believe was his 73^rd transaction of the night, though it’s possible I missed a few.

This time the Dodgers’ new president of baseball operations has reportedly picked up second baseman Howie Kendrick from the Angels in return one of the players he had just picked up hours earlier, Marlins pitcher Andrew Heaney, for second baseman Dee Gordon and pitcher Dan Haren.

Former Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti almost acquired Kendricks from the Angels last year in a deal with Zach Lee.

So in one completely dizzy day of dealing, the Dodgers now have a new double-play combination of Jimmy Rollins at shortstop and Kendrick at second. That’s a pretty serious upgrade. Just don’t get too enamored by the pairing. Both have one year left on their contracts.

Kendrick, 31, has spent his entire nine-year career with the Angels. Last season he hit .293 with 75 runs batted in, 85 runs and 33 doubles, with .347 on-base and .397 slugging percentages.

Kendrick is owed $9.5 million in 2015.
