Never enough chiefs: Dodgers add Alex Anthopoulos to front office

It’s not just the roster the Dodgers are constantly reworking, but the front office too.
The Dodgers added yet another general manager to their swelling front-office staff Tuesday, officially announcing that former Blue Jays General Manager Alex Anthopoulos has joined their staff as vice president of baseball operations.
For those keeping score at home, that brings their total number of GMs and ex-GMs to six – President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman, Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations Josh Byrnes, General Manager Farhan Zaidi, Senior Advisor to the President Ned Colletti, Senior Advisor of Baseball Operations Gerry Hunsicker and Anthopoulos.
And all work under Stan Kasten, the team president actively involved in major personnel decisions.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Alex on board,” Friedman said in a news release. “Farhan, Josh, and myself, all have longstanding relationships with him and believe his experience and perspective will be a tremendous asset to our organization.”
Divvying up responsibilities should prove interesting. The Dodgers said Anthopoulos, 38, will assist in all aspects of baseball operations.
Anthopoulos was named The Sporting News Executive of the Year last season; his deals — adding Josh Donaldson, Troy Tulowitzki and David Price — helped lead the Blue Jays to the American League East title. Born in Montreal, he started in the mail room of the Expos before working his way up the front office of first Montreal and then Toronto. He was named the Blue Jays’ GM in 2010.

He reportedly turned down a five-year extension from the Blue Jays in October without giving a specific explanation.
