Resident earns cadet status at Army and Navy Academy
Ryan McWhorter of La Cañada has achieved cadet status at the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad, Calif. and was recognized for completing plebe training there.
McWhorter completed a three-week training course at the academy, where he learned the school’s history and traditions, the alma mater, and armed and unarmed drill. The institution is a private, not-for-profit boarding school for students in grades 7-12.
“We are pleased to welcome these young men into the Army and Navy Academy Corps of Cadets,” said LTC Kevin McMahan, USA (Ret.), senior Army instructor in a statement about the March 6 recognition ceremony. “They have demonstrated their commitment to the Cadet Corps and to striving for leadership excellence.”
