Newport native Drake Bell of ‘Drake & Josh’ fame arrested on suspicion of DUI

Actor and musician Drake Bell, a Newport Beach native best known for his starring role on Nickelodeon’s “Drake & Josh,” was arrested Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence in Glendale, police said.

Bell, 29, was stopped at West Doran Street and San Fernando Road about 2:20 a.m. after police reportedly saw him swerving and speeding after abruptly stopping at a red light, said Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

During the traffic stop, the officer noticed the odor of alcohol coming from the car, after which Bell reportedly failed a field sobriety test, Lightfoot said.

Bell was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was released 10 hours later with a citation to appear in court, the Orange County Register reported.

Bell co-starred with Josh Peck on “Drake & Josh” from 2004 to 2007.
