Sage Hill’s Cooper Green, Ryan Hosseinzadeh are first-team All-Academy League in boys’ basketball
Sage Hill School junior guard Cooper Green and senior forward Ryan Hosseinzadeh have each earned first-team All-Academy League honors in boys’ basketball after helping the Lightning finish tied for second in the five-team league.
Sage Hill (12-16, 5-3 in league) split second with Rowland Heights Southlands Christian, behind rival St. Margaret’s. The Lightning advanced to the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4AA playoffs before losing 53-39 to Hesperia Oak Hills.
Green averaged a team-best 15 points and four rebounds per game in league play. Hosseinzadeh averaged 13 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots.
Sage Hill junior center August Neubauer earned second-team all-league honors, and junior guard Mitchell Frye was an honorable mention.
Junior guard Charlie Wohlgemuth of St. Margaret’s earned league MVP honors, while the Tartans’ Chris Nordstrom was the league’s Coach of the Year.
