Exhibit to highlight student art works

Seventy high school students will showcase their art at the inaugural Newport-Mesa High School Art Showcase, at 5:30 tonight, at OCC’s Art Center, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa. Organizers hope it will become an annual event.

Students from Estancia, Costa Mesa, Newport Harbor, Corona del Mar and Back Bay high schools were selected by their art teachers to present their works in seven types of media.

The best in each category will be prized with awards. The ceremony starts at 6 p.m. and will have Newport-Mesa Unified School Dist. Supt. Jeffrey Hubbard speaking. The Costa Mesa High School jazz band will supply the soundtrack.
