LONG BEACH — Corona del Mar High freshman Mike Moorhead shot two-under-par 70 to highlight four Newport-Mesa players who advanced from the CIF Southern Individual Regional Monday at Skylinks Golf Course.

CdM freshman John Davenport (72) also advanced, as did Estancia freshman Jake Knapp (73) and Newport Harbor junior Travis Russell (73).

The top 30 qualified for the individual championship tournament, May 26 at Hacienda Golf Club in La Habra Heights.

Eight players at 74 played off for the final seven spots.

CdM senior Camden Nicholson, who has signed to continue his career at the University of Utah, Sea Kings Coach Mike Starkweather said, shot 75 and did not advance.

Estancia senior Ryan Knapp shot 78.
