Big West Championships

IRVINE — Two more school records fell for UC Irvine Saturday at Anteater Stadium.

Lauren Collins broke her own record in winning the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 1 1/4 inches. Her previous best was 6-0 set earlier this season.

Freshman Golde Ibia eclipsed her own UCI record in the 100-meter hurdles as she finished third in 13.72, passing her previous mark of 13.88 set in Friday’s preliminaries. Ibia also finished third in the 400 hurdles in 62.06, which ranks No. 8 all-time at UCI.

Junior Alisha Misiaita placed second in the shot put (51-6 1/4 ).

UCI finished sixth in the team competition with 80.50 points, as Cal State Northridge won with 198 points.

In the men’s competition, freshman Charles Jock finished second in the 800 in 1:49.87, two-hundredths of a second behind UC Santa Barbara’s Ryan Martin.

Jock anchored UCI’s winning 4x400 relay (3:10.22) that earned an automatic berth in the NCAA West Regional at Eugene, Ore., May 29-30. The first three legs of the relay were Oliver Plattner, George Hernandez and Tim Murphy.

Plattner finished third in the 400 in 47.87, while Hernandez was sixth in 48.93. Napoleon Greene’s 52.73 in the 400 hurdles was good for third place.

The UCI men finished seventh with 62.50 points as Cal State Northridge also won that title with 176.50 points.

MEN’S GOLF

NCAA West Regional

DALY CITY, Calif. — UC Irvine ended its season with an 11th-place finish Saturday at Lake Merced Golf Club.

Junior John Chin led the Anteaters with an 18th-place finish, shooting three-under 213 after an even-par 72 in the final round Saturday.

Sophomore Max Greil also shot 72 Saturday and placed 27th at 215. Senior Sean Shahi carded a one-under 71 in the last round and finished 39th at 217. Freshman Roberto Francioni (81) placed 72nd at 227 and sophomore Bryan Harris (79) was 74th at 233.

Arizona State was first in the 13-team field with a 54-hole score of 36-under par 828.

UCI shot 870. Jesper Kennegard of Arizona State won the individual title at 12-under 204.
