H.B.’s chief financial officer is set to be appointed assistant city manager
Lori Ann Farrell-Harrison is expected to be voted in Monday by the Huntington Beach City Council as the new assistant city manager.
Farrell-Harrison, 49, has served as the city’s chief financial officer the past seven years, overseeing the annual budget.
The assistant city manager position has been vacant since Ken Domer left in late July to become Fullerton’s city manager.
“I love this city,” Farrell-Harrison said Friday. “I respect this City Council and the community. This is a very well-run city.”
Farrell-Harrison is expected to make $221,145 a year, about a 5% increase from her current salary, according to a city staff report.
She is credited with playing a pivotal role in establishing a financial plan for the Senior Center in Central Park and for achieving a “AAA” credit rating for the city, a city news release states.
“Lori Ann has proven to be a true asset and important resource to the city of Huntington Beach,” City Manager Fred Wilson said in the release. “She joined the city in a challenging time and over the past seven years has demonstrated solid leadership and management skills. I congratulate her on her new role and know she will do an outstanding job as assistant city manager.”
Before becoming CFO in 2010, Farrell-Harrison worked for the city of Long Beach.
She has 26 years’ experience in government and the private sector and holds a bachelor’s degree from Barnard College of Columbia University and a master’s in public administration from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs.
Farrell-Harrison said the city will soon start the recruitment process to fill the CFO position.
Monday’s council meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 2000 Main St.
