Woman found dead in Huntington Beach apartment, suspect arrested

A 25-year-old woman was found dead in an apartment in Huntington Beach on Wednesday afternoon and a suspect has been arrested, the Huntington Beach Police Department said.

Police responded to a report of an assault at about 1:15 p.m. at an apartment building on the 8400 block of Jenny Street, near Newland Avenue, Huntington Beach Police Lt. Ryan Reilly said. They found the deceased woman there, as well as a man who needed medical attention.

The man was taken to the hospital for injuries but was arrested as a suspect in the victim’s death, Reilly said.

Reilly did not release further information about the two people, including their names, nor did he give details about how the woman died. He added that it was an active investigation.

A statement from the HBPD said that detectives from the Crimes Against Persons Unit have no reason to believe there is a threat to the community or any outstanding suspects.
