A man is dead after being struck by a car Tuesday in a Costa Mesa parking lot.

Police responded to the Home Depot, 2300 Harbor Blvd., just before noon on a call of a vehicle versus two pedestrians in the parking lot near the lumber area, said Costa Mesa police spokeswoman Roxi Fyad.

Two men who appeared to be in their 30s or 40s had been hit. Both were taken to a nearby hospital, where one was pronounced dead. The Orange County coroner identified him as Juan Martinez Hernandez, 49.

The second man suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, Fyad said. No arrests have been made, and police are still investigating.
