More than 200 new coronavirus cases reported in Orange County
There were 213 new cases of the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19 reported Monday in Orange County, according to updated numbers from the Orange County Heath Care Agency.
The county now has 6,474 cumulative cases to date, including 665 skilled nursing facility residents and 377 Orange County jail inmates.
The 213 new cases Monday were the fourth-highest single day total in the county during the pandemic, and the most since 216 were reported on May 23.
No new COVID-19 deaths were reported in the county, leaving 147 cumulative deaths due to the respiratory disease.
There are 240 cases that remain hospitalized, and of those 97 are in intensive care units.
A total of 1,140 tests were reported administered Sunday, the lowest single-day county total during the pandemic. To date, 132,075 people in the county, which has more than 3.1 million people, have been tested for the virus.
Males account for 52% of the county’s reported coronavirus cases and 59% of the deaths.
People identifying as white have accounted for 37% of the total deaths, with Hispanics or Latinos accounting for 32% and Asians for 18%.
By age range, all patients who have died to date were:
- 85 and up: 42
- 75 to 84: 40
- 65 to 74: 27
- 55 to 64: 17
- 45 to 54: 13
- 35 to 44: 5
- 34 and younger: 3

- Santa Ana: 1,246 (36.9 cases per 10,000 residents)
- Anaheim: 1,099 (30.6 cases per 10,000 residents)
- Huntington Beach: 348 (17.1 cases per 10,000 residents)
- Irvine: 198 (7.1 cases per 10,000 residents)
- Newport Beach: 144 (16.5 cases per 10,000 residents)
- Costa Mesa: 123 (10.6 cases per 10,000 residents)
- Fountain Valley: 61 (10.8 cases per 10,000 residents)
- Laguna Beach: 46 (19.7 cases per 10,000 residents)
