It “snowed” around the palm trees, and one towering fir too, as Newport Beach celebrated the annual lighting of the holiday tree at Fashion Island Friday evening.

Television personalities Dr. Terry Dubrow (“Botched”) and Heather Dubrow (“The Real Housewives of Orange County”) hosted the ceremony, which also included a 25-minute musical show by the Young Americans, a visit from Santa Claus and the snowfall.

A repeat performance will take place Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Neiman Marcus-Bloomingdale’s Courtyard at the mall, 401 Newport Center Drive.

Admission is free and spots can be staked out starting at 7 a.m. Only blankets and lawn chairs no more than 6 inches off the ground are allowed.

This year’s holiday tree, a 90-foot fir, arrived about two weeks ago from the Mt. Shasta area.
