Good morning, and welcome to the TimesOC newsletter. It’s Friday, Jan. 15.

My name is David Carrillo Peñaloza, the author of the TimesOC newsletter and an editor for Los Angeles Times Community News. I’m writing from Fountain Valley.

Getting an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine at Disneyland has proved to be difficult for many Orange County residents 65 and older.

Help might be on the way.

Reporter Sara Cardine writes that the Orange County fairgrounds appears to be one of the next distribution centers for residents seeking free coronavirus vaccinations.

“I know the cat’s already out of the bag that we’re going to eventually have a site at the fairgrounds,” Costa Mesa Mayor Katrina Foley said Thursday in a virtual townhall forum on Facebook, where she and Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Laguna Beach) provided an update on the county’s COVID-19 response.

“We’re really lucky to have that site here in Orange County, right here in Costa Mesa,” Foley continued. “It’s going to make it very accommodating for many, with easy access — so stay tuned.”

Here are the latest headlines for our Orange County readers:
