Burbank police caught three teenagers suspected of breaking into two Glendale homes Wednesday after an hour-long search in Burbank that ended when officers unleashed a police dog on one of them.

Around 9:35 p.m., a resident called police after someone unexpectedly rang her doorbell, said Burbank Police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.

Officers arrived at the scene, located on the 2500 block of North Reese Place, and noticed the resident’s side gate was ajar, but no one was there.

They then approached two men sitting in a car parked nearby with paper license plates. One took off on foot, while the other — identified as 19-year-old Los Angeles resident Ryan DeVaughn Joseph — was detained.

Inside the car, police reportedly found jewelry and a police scanner.

Police formed a perimeter in the neighborhood, while a Pasadena police helicopter circled over the area, telling officers on the ground that two people might be hiding in a backyard.

Officers sent a police dog to catch one of them — a 17-year-old from Inglewood who was not identified because he’s a minor — leaving him with dog bites on his arm and shoulder. He was treated for minor injuries before he was booked.

After seeing the dog, the third suspect, identified as 19-year-old Los Angeles resident Christopher Bonds, surrendered in a nearby yard, Losacco said.

Investigators found property in their possession that was reported stolen earlier in the day in two home burglaries in west Glendale. Also, a glove found at one of the homes reportedly matched one found in their car.

Bonds and Joseph were both charged Thursday with two counts of residential burglary and one count of attempted residential burglary, Losacco said.

The minor, who is on probation for residential burglary and possession of a firearm, is being held at juvenile hall, he added.
