Two arrested in connection to gang-related stabbing in Burbank

Two men injured in a gang fight in the parking lot of Jack in the Box were arrested Friday on suspicion of fighting in public, police said.

Just after 7 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the fast-food restaurant, located at 2511 N. San Fernando Blvd., and found nearby a 21-year-old man with multiple stab wounds on his torso, said Burbank Police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.

Paramedics took the man, a known gang member identified as Arturo Tovar, to a nearby trauma center.

Later that night, a rival gang member, identified as 18-year-old William DeLaCerda, was hospitalized with multiple blunt-force injuries to his upper body, face and head. He reportedly told staff in the emergency room that he’d been assaulted at the restaurant.

Several others were involved in the fight, though neither of the injured men, who have both been released from the hospital, cooperated with investigators. No weapons were recovered.

Police believe the men willingly engaged each other in the fight and arrested both of them on suspicion of fighting in public.

They are being held in lieu of $40,000 bail and are due in court next week.
