Coldcocked: ‘Random’ attack on teacher is caught on tape [Video]
A Pittsburgh 15-year-old is accused of randomly lashing out, punching a teacher in the face, as they crossed paths in an alley.
Video shows the boy stepping out and punching the passing man. His head hits a curb. The victim lies completely still as the boy walks away among a group of other young people.
KDKA.com in Pittsburgh reports that the victim, an English teacher from CAPA, the Philadelphia High School of Creative and Performing Arts, was knocked out by the punch, which police called a “random, cowardly act.”
The Thursday afternoon incident was captured on surveillance video, according to the Associated Press, which reports that 50-year-old James Addlespurger is recovering but has not yet returned to work.
The suspect was arrested Tuesday, with police using the video as evidence, and taken to a juvenile detention center. According to KDKA, the boy was “embarrassed.”
Officials told the AP that the suspect did not know Addlespurger or that he was a teacher.
