Lawmaker, school board member fined for campaign violations
Reporting from Sacramento — State authorities fined an assemblyman from Torrance and a San Gabriel school board member for campaign finance violations.
Democratic Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi, through his campaign committee, agreed to pay an $800 fine for failing to file four online campaign finance reports within the time required in 2011 and 2012, when the Torrance state lawmaker was running for the seat, according to a stipulation reached with the state Fair Political Practices Commission. The stipulation was released on Monday.

FOR THE RECORD
An earlier version of this post said that Democratic Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi of Torrance was fined by state authorities for failing to file four online campaign finance reports. Muratsuchi did file the reports but not within the time required.

Andrew Ammon, a San Gabriel Unified School District board member, was fined $4,000 for failing to disclose a $1,000 cash withdrawal from his campaign account in 2011 and falling to maintain detailed campaign finance statements, according to the FPPC.
The $1,000 constituted nearly 10% of Ammon’s total expenditures in his campaign for the school board.
State authorities said Ammon cooperated with the FPPC investigation and later provided details of the $1,000 expenditure. Ammon also told authorities that his campaign committee treasurer, who maintained his campaign finance records, had passed away during the campaign, according to the FPPC.
The commission is scheduled to vote on both proposed settlements on July 17.
