Reader Photo: In formation at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary
Bill Halladay photographed a group of black-necked stilts at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine on Sept. 4.
He said he had been taking pictures of the birds in various arrangements as the afternoon light faded. At the moment Halladay took this photo, they appeared to stand in unison.
“Black-necked stilts are one of the more comical-looking birds in Southern California, and to see them in such a formal arrangement was a nice contrast to their personality,” he said. “The reflections just reinforced that feeling.”
Hallady used a Nikon D7100. Visit his Flickr page for more of his photos.
