Reader Photo: A halo on the 6th Street Bridge
In the early morning hours of Aug. 24, Sam Cruz and dozens of other photographers gathered in downtown Los Angeles to roam about and take photos.
For the last stop, the group decided to think outside the box. They took steel wool, placed it inside a whisk attached to a cable, and then lit the wool with a battery. A member of the group climbed onto the 6th street bridge and spun the steel wool, creating a 360-degree orange glow.
Cruz opted for a long exposure shot with his Canon EOS 70D to capture the falling sparks. The ISO was set at 100 with an aperture of f/18 and an exposure time of 30 seconds.
