Reader Photo: Protesting eviction
Timo Saarelma and his husband, John Walton Senterfitt, received an eviction notice earlier this year from the landlord of their rent-controlled Los Feliz apartment.
The couple and others in their building are being evicted under the Ellis Act, which permits landlords to remove tenants in order to take their properties off the rental market.
In April, Saarelma photographed a protest message written on their living room window. The shadow the letters cast inside the apartment increases the power of the message, he said.
Saarelman took this photo with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III.
