Man found guilty of stealing chef Guy Fieri’s $200,000 Lamborghini

A Marin County 19-year-old was found guilty Wednesday of stealing celebrity chef Guy Fieri’s $200,000 bright-yellow Lamborghini from a San Francisco dealership.

The jury found Max Wade guilty of commercial burglary and auto theft after hearing evidence that Wade had rappelled into British Motors in 2011 to take the convertible. The car was in the shop for repairs at the time.

More than a year went by before police were able to recover the car at a Richmond storage facility where investigators said Wade had rented a space.

Wade was also found guilty of attempted murder and firing a gun into an occupied vehicle in an unrelated drive-by shooting of a man who was dating a girl Wade desired. The man wasn’t injured.

Marin County prosecutor Yvette Martinez said Wade had stolen the yellow Lamborghini to impress the girl and was willing to kill to get her attention.

Wade pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. He now faces up to 30 years in prison.

Fieri testified at Wade’s trial in San Rafael for a few minutes Monday, KGO-TV reported, confirming he did not know the teen and did not give him permission to take his $200,000 car out of a San Francisco dealership on March 8, 2011.

Fieri told reporters outside court Monday that he was relieved the ordeal was nearly over.

“It’s been a really crazy story,” he said.

Fieri said he was in Chicago filming his show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” for the Food Network when he heard the car had been stolen.

“I thought it was a bad joke,” he said.
