Los Angeles police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down an SUV driver suspected of intentionally hitting a pedestrian who was thrown 60 feet, resulting in his death.

The 50-year-old victim, who was not immediately identified, was standing in the street “near the west curb” of the 600 block of San Julian Street when the SUV, heading north, hit him around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses told police the driver appeared “to intentionally point” his vehicle at the victim and “accelerate at a high rate of speed.”

LAPD investigators said they do not have a motive and are looking for a man between the ages of 45 and 55.

Anyone with information is asked to call LAPD Central Homicide detectives at (213) 972-1258 or (213) 972-1249.

For anonymous tips police ask to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800-222-8477) or by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S) with a cellphone. All text messages should begin using the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on “webtips” and follow the prompts.
