Lindsay Lohan tweets April Fools’ pregnancy joke

Lindsay Lohan said Tuesday on Twitter that a tweet she sent out Monday about her being pregnant was an April Fools’ joke.

Lohan is expected to return to the United States from Brazil to begin a 90-day sentence in a rehab facility as part of a plea bargain she struck after being charged with lying to police about a Santa Monica car crash.

Lohan has until May 2 to prove to the Los Angeles County Superior Court that she has enrolled in rehab. She has said she’d like to do the rehab in New York.

Despite reports that the plea deal Lohan struck would forbid her from using the prescription drug Adderall, sources familar with the case say the agreement did not limit the use of any medication, and the issue will be left to doctors and the facility to determine. Adderall is a stimulant used to treat attention deficit disorder.

On Monday, April Fools’ Day, Lohan began trending on Twitter at 10:35 p.m. when she posted, “It’s official. Pregnant...” Thousands retweeted her tweet. But Tuesday morning, Lohan added, “April Fools. Where’s everyone’s sense of humor?”

Her attorney told the New York Daily News on Monday that Lohan may not go to a New York rehab facility and she was keeping her options open. He also said the medications were not part of the plea deal.

An L.A. judge last month sentenced the actress to serve a 90-day stint in a drug rehabilitation facility, directed her not to leave the facility for any reason and said there would be no passes of any kind that would allow her to leave the grounds.

The facility does not have to be locked, but the judge made it clear that Lohan would violate her probation if she left at any time. Officials will be monitoring her progress.

The “Mean Girls” star avoided jail in a last-minute deal by pleading no contest to misdemeanor reckless driving and providing false information to police. A charge of willfully resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer was dismissed.

In addition to spending 90 days in rehab, she must also spend 18 months in psychotherapy and perform 30 days of community service.

In pleading no contest, Lohan admitted she had violated her probation in a 2011 shoplifting case.

Mark Heller, the New York-based attorney now representing Lohan, said his client was “extremely gratified with the end result.”

“I’m very confident that you won’t be seeing Lindsay Lohan in any criminal courts any time in the future,” Heller said outside the courthouse Monday. “She has fully recognized all of the issues that have to be addressed, and I’m very confident she’ll be able to move forward in her life with dignity, pride and respect.”
