Reader photo: An unforeseen circumstance
It was a typical sunny and picturesque Southern California evening. Except it wasn’t, at least not for long.
In a matter of minutes, a thick fog rolled through and enveloped the bike trail by the Santa Monica Pier.
Hajime Ando shot the image with his Lumix GF-1 just past Shutters on the Beach, which usually boasts a clear view of the ocean.
“The whole area felt eerie,” the photographer said. “You usually don’t associate fog with palm trees and beaches. And bikini-clad tourists seemed barely visible.”
