A 25-year-old man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly attempted to kidnap a teenage girl in Ontario while his 3 1/2-year-old son was in the back seat, police said.

The suspect, identified as Jonathan Medina of Ontario, allegedly drove up and approached the 15-year-old girl as she walked alone on Vine Avenue, police said.

Medina allegedly grabbed the girl’s chest, and then tried to grab her a second time, but she fought him off and ran away, police said. Medina fled the scene in his car, but the girl and witnesses were able to provide a vehicle description, including the license plate number.

The girl was not injured during the incident.

Police officials later found Medina’s vehicle, a maroon 1997 Dodge Stratus, parked in the 1200 block of Stoneridge Place in Ontario.

He was arrested without incident and later booked at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of attempted kidnapping and sexual assault of a child, according to police.

Medina’s son was also unharmed and returned to his mother.

At the time of his arrest, Medina was on probation for a previous battery conviction and had an outstanding $10,000 battery warrant issued out of San Bernardino County.
